LORENA R. VALENCIA - DIRECTOR & PRODUCER - FOUNDER
Lorena is an Emmy-winning Mexican writer-director, producer, and founder of Lakhesis Films. Her work has been featured in Forbes, USA Today, Fox5 News, CUNY TV, BRIC TV, among others, and has been screened at international festivals including the Morelia Film Festival, the Atlanta Film Festival, and NewFilmmakers LA. Lorena is a member of NY NATAS, NYWIFT, NALIP, and Brown Girls Doc Mafia. She is an alumna of the Emerging Content Creators Workshop at the 2022 NALIP Media Summit and the Tomorrow’s Filmmakers Today Fellowship in 2024. Her work explores themes of reproductive rights, identity, and power dynamics. She is currently directing the documentary short Meyolot, a project selected for the UFO Work in Progress program at the 2025 Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, and developing her debut feature film Mayahuel, which was selected for the 2024 Cine Qua Non Lab's Storylines workshop.
